I’m giving this some stars for being engaging enough to finish, but I didn’t think the ending was believable, and the characters were very one-dimensional.
Assuming Jeremy only read the first manuscript and not the note - if he already knew (thought) that Verity killed Harper, why did he fly into a rage significant enough to kill her? Just because she lied about her brain damage? He already slightly suspected that she could be lying about her condition, but couldn’t bring himself to fully believe it. I also don’t think it’s plausible that when Lowen reminded him that murdering his wife would negatively affect Crew, he still chose to go through with murdering her. If his primary motivator was the safety and wellbeing of his child, as was presented throughout the entire book, all he had to do was submit the manuscript to the police and she would have been locked up (and he and his child would have been protected). I ended up leaving the book with more questions than answers, but not in a positive way.
