Doctor Who: The Eye of the Scorpion by Iain McLaughlin

3.0

This story succeeds in spite of itself. Nothing much to it. Middle of the road historical with pretty much the same twist Dr. Who historicals have had since the seventies. The whole thing is so by the numbers that it would be easy to dismiss offhand.
But it actually is kind of fun. Fast paced. Davison is delightful as usual and Nicola Bryant's Peri is actually given something to do for once. The palace intrigue isn't much to write home about, but the recording doesn't dwell on anything long enough for you to care. And it has one of the more convincing large scale combat scenes that Big Finish had managed to this point.
You could certainly do worse than this.
