The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux

3.0

Even though I never saw the musical I pretty much knew everything that happened in this story before I read this book and to be honest in this book nothing new happened.
I still enjoyed it enough, though.

I quite like the French literature from the epoch. As long as you don’t expect anything too progressive and are aware of the what was ok to say back then then you won’t be to annoyed.

I was actually expecting way worse. The characters was pretty good, I actually liked both Raoul and Christine, even though he is a little whiny baby and she is a little ingenues (not to say dumb), but may favourite was Eric, for today's standards he could be an antihero and would end up getting a love interest.

I would actually like to read more of his backstory because it was only referenced at the end.
It was pretty quick and easy read so I would definitely recommend it.
