Not a middle grade book. Gruesome details of the life of an orphan in 1880 Sweden plus the mystery is about a serial killer.  This feels like an outline or proposal for a book, but not a fully-fleshed out book. I think this might have worked better with an 18-20 year old protagonist who gets drafted to help the police find a serial killer.
