Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

Reading this reminded me of that year I wound up accidentally invested in watching Big Brother. I began by thinking this is some of the most idiotic stuff I have ever seen, but for some reason, I didn’t change the channel. Next thing I knew, I couldn’t shift my focus and was laughing out loud at the ridiculous dialogue and unbelievable events, absorbed in and enjoying it all. I admonished myself while thinking that watching was costing me brain cells, but I continued indulging and justified doing so by rationalizing that I needed mindless activity to counterbalance my work-induced stress level. Once I recognized that the genre had been mislabeled and was actually comedy and fantasy, I stopped feeling guilty and let myself enjoy the fluff, smut, and ludicrousness. So many sentences had me laughing out loud and feeling hopeful that a Viking who once won the lottery would someday solve all of my problems.
