The beginning was slow, and I almost decided to put off reading it until later. I’m glad I didn’t because the further you read the quicker the decent into madness. The vivid descriptions throughout the book created a bizarre approach to a coming of age story. I’m still sitting and digesting everything in the novel. The metaphors that Hval creates are disturbing and disgusting, yet captivating.
