House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
4.0
A masterpiece for sure and a book you can truly analyze forever and still find new things, completely captivating in almost every way, a meta narrative within a meta narrative within probably another 7 meta narratives, but at the same time has a lot of sections that I just don’t think are very good. Some of the rambling by ALL of the authors was unnecessary and in my opinion pointless. If they were intended to be that way I am glad the author had that idea but it doesn’t resolve how bored I was through some of it.
That still doesn’t take away from how amazing it really is, I just don’t know if I can put it in my top 10 favorite. It is probably the fastest I have ever read a book of this size but maybe that’s because, unlike the house, the book is smaller on the inside than the outside.
