vitamins999 's review for:
The Blade Itself
by Joe Abercrombie
Very disappointing. I was really looking forward to this after all the wonderful things I'd heard, but whilst it has some fascinatingly interesting characters, they're all stuck in a boring story.
It's a book that does nothing but serve to push audiences into the second book in the trilogy. Thing is, ironically, all that does is push me away from reading anything more.
Books in a trilogy need to have a story that allows them to stand of their own. The Blade Itself gets the Fellowship together, but forgets that the Tolkien made that the midpoint.
