I really enjoyed the way this book uses the “rules” of golden-age detective fiction to reflect on how we use narrative structures to process traumatic events. I liked the contrast between the multiple endings in the golden age version and the ending in the more contemporary narrative. I also really enjoyed all the allusions to the great authors and characters of early 20th century murder mysteries.
