Rice has this incredible ability to pander to fan service while also managing to say absolutely nothing for a solid 400 pages. I find that Lestat as a character is only made interesting through his relation to Claudia, and how haunted he is by her even four books later. Possibly the only instance of the show being better than the source material. 2.5 stars
