The Glittering Court
by Richelle Mead
This is the first book by Richelle Mead that I’ve read and I can honestly say it won’t be the last. I’m not usually a fan of books set back in time, but I think I may have been converted. It made for a nice change of pace actually.
With the family money drying up, Lady Witmore is being ushered into marrying. The pickings are slim and she finds herself destined for a marriage that brings her dread.
Until a well dressed man shows up to whisk one of her staff away to join The Glittering Court - a finishing school of sorts where women are trained to behave like ladies so they can be “bought” in the new lands.
A plan quickly falls into place and Lady Witmore becomes Adelaide.
I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between the girls of the court, and of course, between Adelaide and Cedric - the dapper man who opened her eyes. I loved getting to know her friends, and I’m intrigued to know what Mira has been up to - hopefully that’s in the next book!
Definitely an author I’ll be looking out for.
