I knew going in that there would be some form of livestock animal cruelty due to the MCs job. But the two instances of domestic animal abuse made me sick to my stomach. I had to skips those parts altogether because it made me so uncomfortable. I just feel we could know how fucked up a character’s psyche is without resorting to things like that but if the author’s sole purpose was making a visceral emotional impact then I guess mission accomplished.

The writing is truly phenomenal. This was a really disturbing read and has a WILD ending. Docking a star due to personal preferences regarding triggers (animal).
