Body of The Crime by R. Scarlett

This has got to be one of the most absolutely frustrating couples I have ever read. Part of it is them, part of it is their roles in this society, and part of it is other people messing things up. These books are driving me nuts. To say I was happy when Tensley finally marked Molly would be a vast understatement.

Tensley grew on me a lot more this time around because he's admitted that he wants Molly and was often kinda sweet. He wants to give her everything she could want for and to protect her. But he also knows that that would be his downfall. Though his feelings for her continue to grow, he refuses to allow her to make him grow a heart. Easier said than done.

Molly is growing up a bit and fighting to find her place in Tensley's world. She won't allow the other demons to put her down no matter how much their words hurt her. She wants to be by Tensley's side and makes it known. She's also taken it upon herself to hunt down Cree all thru the night but isn't having any success. But during her search she does meet a warlock who just happens to be a neutral one wiling to help them. I liked him and I think he'll be around some more going forward.

Molly is also desperately trying to win back Tensley's trust. Just when things are looking good for the two of them, she learns of a horrendous thing that she had done to him without even knowing it. And when she confesses this to Tensley, the fragile trust they had managed to rebuild shatters. Looking quite hopeless to repair. Despite Tensley's best efforts to avoid Molly, the situation demands that the two of them appear together at some negotiations. Where Tensley is once again forced to weigh his desires against his duty. Which blows up spectacularly in his face.

When a psychotic old "friend" of Tensley's takes something important from Molly, she is devastated and wants nothing to do with Tensley even though she still loves him. Her want to avoid him doesn't matter though and he confesses much to her. They make up more or less, but it doesn't stop her from leaving for three weeks. With the niggling suspicion of a terrifying situation the two of them will be finding themselves in.

I was surprised to not have gotten any of Fallen in this book. Especially considering his interaction with Tensley and Molly at the end of the first book. But with what this couple will be dealing with I'm pretty sure he has to be in the next one. Right?
