Funny Story by Emily Henry
4.0
Romance is not my genre. I chose this because I love Julia Whelan as a narrator and wanted something light for my daily commute. (The Great Alone and Educated were not good choices to decompress after work, compelling though they were.) Suffice to say, I went in with low expectations and was rather pleasantly surprised. The book was laugh out loud in funny in parts and endearing in others. The dysfunctional parental relationship history that affected both Daphne and Miles felt authentic and relevant to their story. I was relieved when the festering romantic tension between them was finally put to bed, so to speak. I have little patience with that trope.

My only real frustration ? I badly wanted someone to call Petra out on her fake niceness bullshit. That girl needed to get her payback and we never saw it.
