Russian Roulette
by Anthony Horowitz
i finally read it! the yassen book! my fav assassin!
good: we get to see his childhood in estrov, find out more ab the situation w his family, see how he ends up involved w the mafiya in moscow and then makes it to scorpia and it was just. good, man. and then we get the hunter and cossack shit we were all hoping for and the complex feelings yassen has towards the rider family and all the parallels between yassen and alex and ugh it was good
bad: we had a scene that really felt like it was gonna connect to malta and idk if it's bc we got yassen telling alex ab malta and then like. 3 other povs of what happened in malta that horowitz didn't include it (also i do get the point on ending on yassen's first kills as it pertains to the initial ending of alex's story in scorpia rising ending on alex's first cold blooded kill as another tie between them - yassen's functioning as a beginning and alex's as an ending) but i just really felt like after seeing the relationship between hunter and cossack develop i really wanted to see how it went down from yassen's in the moment pov
