Busman's Honeymoon
by Dorothy L. Sayers
The epistolary opening was VERY fun and might almost have been my favourite part, perhaps a sign that I should be reading a fluffy novel of manners rather than a murder mystery… I liked the mystery in this one (the right amount of clever, I didn’t guess it like in Gaudy Night) and I mostly liked the interpersonal plot line, though I’m a lot more interested in Harriet’s intellectual growth than I am in Peter’s emotional turmoil. It does fall a little bit into that zone of being “about marriage” in ways that I can translate for myself. But I was definitely gripped and I like that Sayers is trying to blend in complexity with the mystery puzzle.
