A witch, a necromancer, and a curse-bearer walk into the room....

Aziza is a hedgewitch who has made it her responsibility to protect her town from the magical creatures in the forest. That's usually sending them back on their way through the forest and out of town. She's doing just that when magical hounds attack a carnival and in comes Leo to help her, even though he has no magic. He enlists her help to find out how to break his curse of losing his True Love. He's missing time and memories. Aziza has him help her find out why the creatures are becoming more restless and violent. Which leads the mysterious power in the forest to target Aziza and Leo through Tristan, a necromancer.
Through the power of friendship they uncover mystery after mystery and fight against the power in the forest.

It took me a bit to get started with this one. That is totally on me, not the book itself. I'm so glad I kept at it. The story is paced a little slow for my liking, really picking up in the latter half of the book which I devoured in an hour. I loved the main trio. Aziza is smart, brave, and so loyal. Leo is such a sweetheart, and I just wanted to give Tristan a hug and a warm meal. Even though this is supposed to be book one in a series, it left only a few things unanswered in the end and tied up others neatly leaving this well as a stand alone. I do look forward to reading the rest in the series.
