I think the intent was to do a Christmas version of the author’s other book The Appeal. But it didn’t work. There’s no connection around the person who is involved in the mystery. The characters weren’t Interesting and the story is just a boring read. We don’t get that great of an explanation of why some of the characters don’t like each other. Compared to the other books, this one seems a bit rushed and not well thought out.
But I enjoyed the other 2 books I’ve read by this author. I will also pick up her new book that will be released in August 2024. I think this was just an isolated bad book because it tried to use the same format as a prior book but it didn’t work.
