The Christmas Bride by Anne Gracie

4.0

This is a novella, part of the Chance Sisters series. Blake Ashton is a partner to the men who married the Chance women, but this is his first trip back to England for many years. He's dreading it, still haunted by a tragedy from his youth. When he's held up and accidentally shots a young woman disguised as a highwayman, he stays to help her and her brother, realizing that all is not well. Charlotte Underwood has been surviving on her wits but she's desperate now, forced to depend on Blake's goodwill.
We get to see most of the rest of the characters from the series and how they're doing which is always fun. The story here is fairly predictable, but it's a short read and a nice addition to a great series.
