The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

4.5**

I loved this book.
The Bell Jar was not a book that I had to read for school so I had picked this one up blind. I was pulled into Plath's writing straight away and actually found myself really enjoying Esther's narration and found her extremely relatable. Mental health is something that touches most people and this was captured perfectly through Esther's decline.

I understand that this fictional story is supposed to draw from Plath's own life and experiences, which makes this story harrowing and sad.

I would recommend this classic to anyone who finds the darker part of the human psyche interesting, or love reading a witty, depressed character.
