Quarantine means time to tear into fun and easy romcoms - and this is yet another great addition to the list. This book is a super short and sweet read, featuring actually good writing and a unique main character. Natalie’s parents are getting divorced after a twenty year marriage, and they break the news to her on Christmas Day after knowing about it for ten months. Her two best friends are dating each other and make her feel like even more of a loner for third wheeling them. University placements come out in two weeks, and although she’s smart, Natalie has no idea what she wants to do with her life.

What makes Natalie one of the more unique romcom MCs I’ve read is her history with bad skin, painful and deep acne in her high school leaving her with almost crippling social anxiety, low self confidence, and constant attention to what others think of her. I’ve never seen that kind of a main character written in a book, but the author does such a great job of painting her insecurity in a totally realistic way that many teenage girls feel. When an unexpected romance comes along, Natalie learns to love herself a little bit more and adjust to all of the changes coming her way.

I really enjoyed reading this and it went by so fast - highly recommend for a quick and sweet read!
