General Comments: Another spine-tinglingly satisfying trek into the world of the unknown; knowledge of the previous book is not strictly necessary, but worthwhile. The vivid descriptions of Paris highlight the morbidly fascinating nature of one of the world’s most creepiest locations. With few tense moments; convincing world-building; and a personable ghostly assistant, it shines by itself, and as a great sequel.

Favourite Quote: ‘What you can’t see is always scarier than what you can. Your eyes play tricks on you, filling in the shadows, making shapes.’
