I picked this up because I wanted to try something a little out of my comfort zone; it’s sort of sci-fi, which is a genre I usually don’t enjoy, but I liked the movie they made of this book so I thought I’d give it a go. Turns out it’s very different from the movie—so much so that I can easily see someone liking one but not the other. The book is a quieter and more interior story, though still really unsettling. The use of language is beautiful and strange. Definitely recommend if you like low key creepy borderline sci-fi.
