It had a good framework to become a great book, and I loved The Selection series (though I was a bit younger when I read it), so this gave it a somewhat youthful and slightly childish feel. It didn’t play much on the romance between the two main characters, and then suddenly he died. Without any meaning, and I didn’t understand any of it. I devoured a few pages at the start, but never really got the hang of it. I’m considering buying the second book in the series anyway, as I think the romance between Ethan and Hollis might be more interesting.
