Snow White and Rose Red
by Patricia C. Wrede
the struggle was real. This book was pretty hard for me to stay interested in. I didn't know much about the original fairy tale and now that I have read it I can see why it was so hard to translate into a book.. But the choice of the author to do Elizabethan speech and setting was strange and made it even harder to understand the book. there were a few memorable characters particularly the Widow. The daughters were decent considering the source material but overall it just didn't capture me the way I wanted it to. It did transport me into a very different world which was nice but I felt no immediate need to finish the book and often would put it down for days at a time. I wouldn't recommend this to most people and I probably wouldn't have finished it if I didn't wasn't reading it for an assignment.
