Widdershins

There isn't many books that I give 5 stars to, in fact I could probably count on one hand how many I've given 5 stars to on one hand this year. I also would like to just say that, that this book would have taken me less time to read if I hadn't fallen ill about half way through, because it is such an addictive book.
Possible spoilers ahead.
I had so many people recommend this book to me, I think if I didn't start this book soon I was likely to get shouted at by my friends. An am so glad I finally let them talk me into reading this finally because wow, from the get go there isn't a dull moment. I didn't want to put this book down, there was the odd time where I actually fell to sleep still reading because I refused to put the book down.
This had everything from mystery (which I didn't see the end coming, sometimes I can predict what is going to happen in a book, sort of call it before the end but I didn't this time around), to a relationship that is not the two characters falling straight into bed together and being happy, they had to actually work at it.
To the magic in this book, was something being discovered by the character and us and it actually worked really, really well. I liked the fact that the magic wasn't straight away revealed and that Whyborne was pretty damn skeptical throughout the whole book on whether it was going to actually work or not.
Also I want to add that there isn't many books either that can make feel rather choked up at the end, I hadn't realised how involved I had gotten with this book until the certain ending scene. It was everything I think needed to happen in that scene and it worked really well.
Am very much going to be reading the next few books, because, well I want to know what happens next. This is very much a recommended read to anyone who hasn't read it before.
