An interesting story. It adds context to the same world Jonas came from. The beginning very closely parallels the Handmaid’s Tale.
I was unimpressed with the pacing of the book. And the final part of the book (as all of the books in the quartet seem to be) was ambiguous and rushed. Too much happened right at the end, and then the book ends abruptly when you wish it would continue for just one more scene. It just doesn’t feel like we get true resolution.

Graphic: Abandonment
Moderate: Medical trauma
