Vanish by Tess Gerritsen

5.0

I REALLY liked this one. I even shed a few tears! It was that moving and unnervingly scary.

It's another medical thriller with the two ass-kicking women, Rizzoli & Isles.

I liked the fact that Gerritsen was able to tell the story, once again, from the victim's point of view. I truly enjoyed that perspective, not that I'm a sick pervert, but because I was able to feel their emotions, all of them; fear, anxiety, depression, rage, hope, eternal longing for a better life.

This truly was a great book. From the beginning you are thrown into this whole experience of illegals escaping to America for a better life, to Jane Rizzoli ready to pop and still kicking ass and taking names, to Maura Isles using her keen intelligence to aid those who lost their lives.

We also for the first time was able to see into Gabriel Dean's head. This was a unique perspective coming from supposed the "man in the gray suit." His emotions definitely got caught up in it all.

From the beginning, this was a rip-roaring thriller that literally had me lighting the pages on fire, that's how fast I read it (a matter of two hours!!). I really liked this and loved how Gerritsen has developed not only the characters but the series.

Jane has a baby on the way, and her sense of motherhood is ominiscent. She's scared but she still loves being a mother. But sometimes her love of being a cop gets in the way. There's so much that happens in this book and I don't want to give anything away because Gerritsen's writing is so beautifully composed that there are "mini" twists and clues in the plot that will make you think it's this person or they're tied together because of this! But when you keep reading ALL of your guesses and hypothesises are totally off mark.

Great book, great author, and it's really turning into a great series. I enjoyed the first one, the fourth and the fifth ones the most. I can't wait to see how else these girls are going to put their lives on the line for another victim. They always seem to end up in trouble.
