Anathem by Neal Stephenson

This was a wonderful, complex and challenging book. All of those are good things. Don't get me wrong, the first 100 pages was work as you are introduced to a world that is kind of like ours with a vocabulary that is kind of like ours...but is not. That said, enough nuggets of wonderfulness are sprinkled into those first 100 pages that makes it all worth while.
Then, once you have the language under your belt it is just a magnificent story that weaves philosophy, quantum mechanics, interesting characters, politics and a myriad of other things all together in a compelling and fascinating way.
Now the caveat - it is not a beach book in the current sense, it's not light and fluffy. I can't say it's for everyone but I say that with a touch of pity *grin*.
