The Good Shepherd by C.S. Forester
4.0
I enjoyed this book, because I was interested on its subject. In general it was tiresome. I cannot count how many times the major protagonist said "Very Well", "left full rudder" or "right full rudder".
That said, I think you usually find the perspective of submarine captains in naval books about WW2. So writing a book that describes the life during a convoy mission was interesting (assuming you are curious for that sort of thing). What the author does well is that makes you feel as desperate and as tired as captain Krause.
The best summary for the book is "cold, grey, monotonous and miserable" (what an endorsement!)
