The Push by Ashley Audrain
4.0

I found this book to be sad and haunting. I started out not loving the way the story is written but after a time I didn't notice it anymore. I noticed I was fairly loyal to the narrator throughout the story but I kept questioning whether I should be, whether she deserved that loyalty based on the reactions of those around her. Never learning anyone else's point of view of the book's events makes it feel mysterious in a way that I liked. I also liked that the narrator elicited conflicting emotions. Her complexity made the story more interesting and realistic.
