Switch Pitching
by S.J. Crawford
funny
lighthearted
medium-paced
Switch Pitching offers a combination of tropes that are hard to resist, at least for me. Sports romance with bi-awakening and friends to lovers, and a side of forced proximity. It was definitely engrossing.
I enjoyed reading about Ethan and James. I loved how completely different they were and yet they fit together perfectly. James was so clueless about his flirting and how confusing it could be for his gay friends and it was slightly embarrassing but also super adorable 🤭 I also liked that he took it all in stride once he realized his attraction for his friend, and he never really second guessed himself. I liked them both very much!
I did have a bit of a struggle to be completely immersed in the characters and connect with them as I think the writing might have lacked a bit of depth. It felt more like I was being told how they felt instead of being shown and experiencing the feelings alongside the characters during my reading.
Other than that, I think it was a nice story, particularly for a debut. I enjoyed it very much and if you're into sports and MM romance, and like banter, lots of flirting, and a little bit of drama, then you should check it out.
