Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr

I read this book to avoid having to pick up the Time Travellers Wife. And I'm glad I did.

I enjoyed Marr's first book, Wicked Lovely and thought the continuation of the theme of faeries within the same group of characters to be a great plot. The focus on one of Aislinn's(MC of Wicked Lovely) friends and her descent into the Dark Faery Court is amazing. The Dark Court is so different from both the Summer and Winter Courts that I was sucked into turning each page for a little more information about it.

The concept of the tattoo being what pulled Leslie into the Dark Court was a stretch for the imagination but it works well once the Dark Fey are understood fully. The focus on the love aspect also seemed overwhelming at times but Niall and Irial are both such strong personalities that you realise they wouldn't love any other way but strong and intense, and they do.

I loved this. It is a guilty pleasure. The characters don't act like themselves at times and often follow clichés and seem to do things that they swore not to do not a paragraph earlier but it is a good read. Faeries totally kick vampire butt. Way more scary and intoxicating. Non of this sparkling crap.
