Leave the Grave Green by Deborah Crombie

2.0

Unfortunately this became a dull read for me.

Which is really a shame, because for the first 30 pages or so this had some very interesting characters and history introduced, but shortly after that, a dull investigation puttered along for about 40 pages before things got interesting again. And then it got dull again.

I muscled through this because I was still curious as to whodunit, and because it's a short novel.
Ultimately I sped read to the end because I was antsy get into another book.

Looking back on my review for All Shall Be Well, I'm struck my how much I enjoyed that. And thinking back, it was well warranted: that was a very good read. And to say that I had read somewhere that the series improves over time makes me wonder where I had read that. Because I've been googling Best Mystery Series and this doesn't come up on any hits.

Anyways, it was an ok read I guess, just such a letdown after the previous one. I'm not sure I'll return to the series.
