Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke by Eric LaRocca

5.0

"I feel like a new constellation, scabbed in glittering black...A smear across the universe."

This book is A LOT, and I'm not sure how to talk about it. It's grim, intense, and so very weird. It's a very uncomfortable read, and there are some gross scenes (and some animal stuff I really could have done without). I know these things may not sound positive to you, but I loved this book. It has stuck with me since I read it, but I'm not sure if this is something I'll re-read or not. If you're looking for something that will really bother you in the best way, pick this up. Look at that quote at the top! I love it.

Here's a note I wrote down when I finished the book - Disturbing and beautiful and weird??? I don't know. I feel sad and I don't know what else. Manipulative and scary.

Content notes - homophobia, mention of suicidal ideation, killing a creature, animal death
