If Love Had a Price by Ana Huang
4.0
Kris and Nate… where do I even begin?!
Kris is the very definition of glam, gloss, and get-out-of-my-way—until she finds herself in the most unhinged Cinderella nightmare: her future stepmother is practically her age. So naturally, what’s a girl to do? Hire a hot fake boyfriend to help sabotage the wedding, obviously.
Enter Nate: grumpy, grounded, and 100% not ready for the emotional whiplash of falling for the woman who hired him. But fall he did—and I’m convinced he fell first. Kris? She fell harder, deeper, and with her whole sparkly heart.
While I would’ve gladly traded a bit of the filler for more chaos from the unhinged almost-stepmom subplot, Ana Huang pulled a plot twist out of nowhere that had me blinking like… I beg your pardon? It was giving emotional whiplash in the best way.
All in all, If Love Had a Price was a deliciously dramatic, slow-sizzle read with a morally grey mission and a surprisingly tender romance. Still, if I’m ranking the series? Farrah & Blake’s duet holds the crown for me. But Kris and Nate? They definitely gave them a run for their money—pun absolutely intended.
