Tangled Truths by Lindsay Buroker
5.0
Tangled Truths is the third and (so far) my favorite book in the Death Before Dragons series. Val finds the personal and professional lives colliding when her ex-husband and estranged daughter are caught in the middle of magical mishaps while on vacation. Add in an angry dragon who wishes her dead, and Val will have to depend on her own skills and allies to keep both herself and her family alive. The fact that one of those allies happens to be a very handsome dragon only makes things more complicated.
The Death Before Dragons series is always a blast to read, filled with big action sequences, lovable characters, and a great sense of humor. But what elevates Tangled Truth above the first two books is the fact that it's not afraid to get personal. Bringing in Val's estranged family forces her into an uncomfortable situation that may prove to be more difficult than supernatural assinations. I also liked seeing the Val/Zav relationship heat up. I didn't like the idea of them together in book one, but now I'm completely on board.
Highly recommended if you've enjoyed the first two books in the series.
