Gridlinked by Neal Asher

4.0

Gridlinked follows an SF James Bond-like character Agent Cormac in a future where worlds are run by benevolent AIs (surely influenced by Iain M Bank's excellent Culture novels). He is being weaned off the grid, basically an internet connected directly to the brain via augmentations, after 30-odd years in order to revive his humanity but he also has a mission to fulfill and a madman chasing him across the galaxy set on revenge.

The 500+ pages flew by and I have a feeling I've found a great new space opera universe to explore!
