Frothy, folksy novella about a late-30s New England spinster running away to become a traveling bookseller—at least until she gets married and returns home to start cleaning house again. Pleasant! But there's some unsurprisingly antique attitudes toward women given the book's age, and Morley's choice to have the narrator continually reiterate how 'fat' and 'homely' she is really soured me on it.
