Me, after finishing this book: I crave magical powers, emotional healing, and maybe a sword. 🔥
Tisannah? A walking trauma-to-triumph arc.
Max? Stoic, mysterious, would 100% die for you.
Sammerin? A side character who walked in, made me laugh once, and now I’d die for him too.
It’s a slow burn romance (like, SLOW) with a sprinkle of spice—just enough to mildly scandalize your inner Victorian aunt. The world is dark, the themes are heavy (slavery, war, etc.), but the growth? The power moments? The intensity? Worth it.
Final verdict: My soul is slightly bruised but my fantasy heart is full. BRB diving headfirst into book 2 like a gremlin who’s had too much emotional investment and not enough closure.
