Please read this book, especially if you are Canadian, but also if you are American since I'm sure there are some overlapping issues, but also I think this is an incredible resource for those who would like to better understand an overview of many current-day issues in Canada (this is Ontario focused) for Indigenous people and their not so far off historic underpinnings.

This was an incredibly sad but important read, and at times beautifully and tenderly put together. The seven "fallen feathers", or lost children were reported on in an incredibly human way, that feels like Talaga was in collaboration with families and communities when describing their lives and the systemic injustices that articulated and ultimately ended them. This is unfortunately a necessary piece of journalism amongst others, that importantly documents issues all Canadians should be aware of.
