The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

5.0

This book is so good. The world-building is fantastic. It is extra special now that I know the backstory of what happened with Snow and Lucy Gray.
It is nice how she is mentioned already, although it is very indirectly: Someone from 12 who once won the Hunger Games, but no other information is given. It just makes sense in the story because the Capitol felt like they were cheated so they deleted all the footage.

Generally speaking, it is also an amazing story. Katniss trying to do anything and everything she can to protect the people she cares about. Volunteering for Prim
, then making sure Peeta stays alive. It is also so sweet to see that she does have some feelings for Peeta, even when she doesn’t even really realise it herself (or doesn’t want to realise it)

One of the best details, in my opinion, is the way she is able to communicate with Haymitch. They don’t like each other because they are so similar, but that results in them understanding each other. Katniss knows exactly what to do to stay alive, and has Haymitch to help her with that.
