I really like how the characters in Alice‘s books are aware of any unfair judgement/thoughts they’re having. They still feel that way & no one’s invalidating that; but they acknowledge when they’re being unfair and then try to deal with their feelings.
For example when Charlie says Nick is right to be excited about going to uni, and he knows he shouldn’t resent that, but that’s how he feels nonetheless.

In general, I think her books are great examples for YA stories with a good balance of immaturity/relatability/honesty and maturity/accountability/character growth
