American Gods by Neil Gaiman

5.0

Like any road trip, this book is a slow burn. Over time, the book grew on me until I finished the last quarter within two days. For the first of Gaiman's works, I was pleasantly surprised! The concept is out there, but is grounded by the fact that it actually takes place in America. Real-life locations you can go and see here in the real world. That attention to detail is something that's commonly missed nowadays, and something that I appreciate.

This is a book that I'll revisit one day, because with my attention-span, it's hard to remember the whole, cohesive plot: just little fragments of scenes I enjoyed and ending in particular stick in my mind. Don't be like me and read it on and off, trust me.
You'll want to ride this story out, start to finish.
