I have so many things to say about this book that I’m still trying to put together. It was, honestly, not a good book. In short it was predictable, slow, and really in your face about the themes and foreshadowing. The writing was painfully simple, I think at times it underestimated the reader’s ability to comprehend what was happening. Truthfully only the first third of the book was amazing. It got boring after that, and then interest came back at the expense of it reading like a corny action movie. I walked away from it so conflicted because I loved the first part so much and so quickly lost interest. Maybe my opinions will change when I inevitably re-read this. For now, though, all I can say is that it was just okay.

But, despite all my complaints I cannot bring myself to hate it. I got such a large amount of personal enjoyment from reading this and it made me sob so hard. It’s one of those that I think will always stay with me, and I don’t regret reading it.

It is such an astonishingly mediocre book, and I loved it with all my heart.
