It started out pretty good. I didn't even mind that Acton was a stalker, I can live with that. IF the author set it up the right way. But it made no sense.
I blinked and all of a sudden, Doyle and Acton were in a relationship. One second Doyle is saying she can't get a read on Acton, next she's saying she knows exactly how he's feeling about her, she can't do anything wrong in his eyes and she knows it.
It should be show not tell. Well the author is showing us nothing and telling us everything. We never see these two characters (who we should care about enough to keep reading the series) grow as people, go through things together, slowly get to know each other and fall in love. They get together because the plot says so and we should just be okay with that because suddenly they act like they've been together for a year already. Zero character development and zero relationship development. We never even learn why Acton is so obsessed with Doyle. And we don't know why Doyle even likes Acton. Like come on, those are the basics.

Murder investigation was overshadowed by how annoyed I was with the characters, but it was alright I guess. Not really.
