This was my first book by this author, but it will not be my last! I was really excited going into this book as a few people were telling me how great it was, and I absolutely agree with them.
We meet Gabriel who is the Don and the definition of a morally grey character. He owns the entire city and has so much blood on his hands. We find out his older brother has died and because of it a few secrets of his brothers is revealed leading to us meeting Amelia who has her own traumatic past to deal with, but she was strong and brave and willing to do anything to protect her own.
This is a slow burn as Amelia wants nothing to do with Gabriel even though he has forced her hand and married her. He falls first and I don't blame him because who would not want her around? She was such a wonderful FMC and I loved her fierceness despite her pain.
The spice was off the charts and I really enjoyed the development of their relationship and how they could no longer stop themselves from the truth of how they felt. I loved when he talked to her in Italian and how he was not scared to admit his feelings.
I was wrong on who the bad guy would be, but I was not off by a lot. There are many twists and turns, and it will leave you on the edge of your seat to find out what is going on and whether or not his older brother is alive?
I'm glad that Ria will be writing about three of the side guy characters we got to meet but honestly I am more interested in Enzo's story than anybody else. The guy is an absolute mystery, and I cannot wait to find out more about why he took that vow of silence!
