Spider-Man Noir
by David Hine
I wasn't that interested in reading this despite my Spider-Man love but it turned up at the library so I gave it a whirl.
It's not a bad alternate take on Spider-Man - they make good use of a depression-era setting, the villains get re-imagined in an interesting manner which works very well and the darkness if impressive - Pete's world is rarely allowed to be this dark. Problem is, it's doesn't feel like Pete - angry, brooding, violent and not adverse to killing? You can change many things but it doesn't work if you change Pete. This isn't an 'alternate' person becoming SM, this is Pete in a different era.
That aside, the artwork is nice, muted colours and interesting panel designs.
So, not bad, some good points but it doesn't feel that much like Spider-Man.
