Logan's Run by George Clayton Johnson, William F. Nolan

3.0

In the world of genres and books and themes...this is my favorite! I love futuristic books, but the current trend of dystopian is a little far fetched for me. (that one young soul that can change the evils of the world with some mystical talent she was born with? Meh!) Not to say that in the world of Logan's Run things are smooth and ideal...because there would be no story if it were. But I like it. I am going to watch the movie (in all it's 1976 glory).

IMO, I think this story deals with a conflict we all have. Do you stay with status quo? Or do you risk a change? Your life is on the line but you are still loyal to the system...how does that change you? I really appreciated Logan's honesty in dealing with those questions. And the adventure itself was fun to follow along.

One thing about reading books of this type is that there tends to be a generally accepted future world. It's my guess that because this was written so many many years ago...before the age of modern communication, GPS, and other technology...things actually look foreign, futuristic, innovative. And that's a fun thing to read!
