Dark Entries by Robert Aickman

5.0

This was an absolute treat. I've not read any of Aickman before, and was left wondering where he'd been all my life.
The stories are creepy, rather than horror stories per se. Odd, unsettling things happen, often with no definitive explanation, (though hints are there) because the people they happen to don't really know what the hell happened. The tone reminded me most of 'The King in Yellow' by Robert W.Chambers, or perhaps 'The Boss in the Wall'by Avram Davidson.

Definitely one my favourite discoveries of the year.
